The Universal Guaranteed Pension : From this April 1st the PGU changes, These are the most relevant modifications

The benefit will have new modifications. Know what they are and what requirements you will have.

Universal Gauranteed Pension

The Universal Guaranteed Pension , or well known as PGU , will have important changes during the month of April. After this update in the requirements, more people will be able to benefit and receive the monthly contribution.

These are the most relevant modifications
Currently, one of the requirements to receive the PGU is  not to be part of a family group belonging to the richest 10% of the population aged 65 or over . Well, with the entry of the  Short Law , this requirement will be modified and a new requirement will begin to be evaluated, and that is that these people who were not beneficiaries  do not integrate a family group belonging to the richest 10% of the total population of the country.

In other words, all the people who belong to the 90% of the households with the lowest income of the Chilean population will be able to benefit.

On the other hand, the Social Welfare Institute (IPS) will internally re-evaluate the applications and from April will contact those people who were rejected from the PGU to notify them that they were beneficiaries without the need for them to reapply for the benefit.

Which are the requirements?
Those who wish to access the PGU from April must have the following requirements:

Be 65 years of age or older.
They do not integrate the richest 10% of the country's population.

Proof of residence in the territory of the Republic of Chile in these two cases:

A period of not less than 20 continuous or discontinuous years , since the applicant has reached 20 years of age.
A period of not less than four years of residence in the last five years immediately prior to the date of submission of the application to qualify for the PGU benefit.

Have a base pension lower than the higher pension of $1,114,446 , determined by the Reference Self-Financed Pension (PAFE). It should be noted that the base pension is a calculation based on retirement age and not the pension received in the last month.
Not be imposing or a pensioner of the Chilean Police Provident Directorate (Dipreca) or the National Defense Provident Fund (Capredena).

What is the amount?
The PGU provides an amount of $206,173 pesos for those people who have a base pension less than or equal to $702,101 pesos per month.

On the other hand, if they have a base pension greater than $702,101, but less than $1,114,446, the benefit payment will not be the same for everyone since it will correspond to a variable value
