Here’s that veteran free agent New Orleans Saints fans have been asking for. The Saints reached an agreement with Cedrick Wilson Jr., per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, which was confirmed by NewOrleans.Football’s Nick Underhill. Schefter says it’s a two-year deal. Wilson, 28, previously played for the Miami Dolphins and Dallas Cowboys.
At some point the Saints needed to start signing warm bodies at wideout with just three of them under contract for 2024, and an experienced pro was needed given Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed, and A.T. Perry were all just second- or third-year pros. And Wilson has a good shot at helping thee team this year.

Listed at 6-foot-2 and 197 pounds, he’s a bigger target than Olave and Shaheed while bringing plenty of experience in the style of offense the Saints are wanting to run. Like Saints offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel has a background working under Kyle Shanahan on the San Francisco 49ers.
So while Wilson won’t be expected to light up the scoreboard — he’s caught 11 touchdown passes in 68 games — he should continue to be a leader in the receiving corps and a resource for his younger teammates as they pick up the new offense.
